Latitude 41 Wedding at Mystic Seaport {10.20.17}

Yay!  It’s FINALLY time that I can share Sarah + Christian’s wedding day with the world!!  I had been looking forward to this day for a very, very long time, and it was even better than I could have imagined.

Going into this wedding I knew a couple of things for certain: 1. Every detail was going to be beautiful and perfectly planned to a tee, 2. Sarah + Christian were going to be the happiest people I have ever seen and 3. Christian would shed some tears.

Not to brag or anything, but I was totally right.

I know Sarah had spent a lot of time and energy planning this perfect day (I’m sure with tons of help from Christian!).  She was in the middle of finishing an extremely hard degree (congratulations *Dr.* Sarah Silvia!) but would beam about the wedding every time you talked to her about it.  They were going with a navy and white nautical theme, a very natural choice for this couple considering their love for all things coastal, especially Christian’s very serious fishing addiction, I mean hobby.  Holding their reception at the Mystic Seaport, surrounded by boats, ships, and a lighthouse was just the very beginning of the nautical influences throughout the day.  There were the anchor print socks that the guys wore with Sperry boat shoes, the fishing hook tie bar and the monkey fist table number holders, to name a few, but I actually laughed when I walked into where Sarah and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the Whaler’s Inn in downtown Mystic, and the walls were painted a perfectly coordinated navy blue with white trim!  It was like even the hotel was decked out for the #SilviasByTheSea!

Sarah + Christian were so genuinely elated to be marrying their best friend on that gorgeous October day.  As soon as I saw Sarah I could practically feel the excitement coming from her.  They were excited to celebrate with their best friends and family, they were excited for the food and drinks from Coastal Gourmet, and they were especially excited for the music from Darik + The Funbags, but they were MOST looking forward to the moment when Sarah would walk down the aisle inside of St. Patrick’s Church to join Christian and begin their new life together.  That moment did not disappoint, as Christian watched with tears in his eyes (which makes me right about #3!) as Sarah’s mother walked her towards Christian and proudly gave her away.  Sarah + Christian exchanged vows and rings and shared their first kiss, but it was the simplicity of Christian opening the door for his new wife that made me all mushy for them.  Totally unsurprising though, as like I mentioned Christian may get a little emotional when it comes to Sarah.  Spending time with them at their engagement session, and catching some of their Facebook interactions in which Christian would brag about Sarah’s accomplishments, or just remind her how much he loves her, it’s very clear that Christian puts Sarah first and foremost in his life, such an admirable quality for a partner.  They compliment each other perfectly in this way, as it’s also evident that Sarah is always thinking of Christian.  For instance the couple got each other gifts, and Sarah’s to Christian a watch that she had purchased months before while on vacation in Italy with her mom.  Just always thinking of her love, even when surrounded by wine and pasta!!

The couple celebrated with their guests at Latitude 41, on the Mystic Seaport grounds.  Like I mentioned before it was the perfect choice for their vision.  Another perfect choice was the band.  I think that took second place for what Christian was most excited about.  Darik + The Funbags were a super high energy band playing awesome dance music the whole night.  It was very cool to see the couple just dancing and thoroughly enjoying their wedding.  Because I stayed to the very end I got to hear the couple, while standing on speakers, thank all of their guests for celebrating and yet again tell each other how much they love each other.

The photos from Christian + Sarah’s wedding are very special to me.  Looking at them I realize the photos I love the most are when a couple makes me feel like an invited guest into their wedding, and into their lives.  And Christian and Sarah, thank you, you did exactly that.
