The One Where Jessica Meets Alex*

It was 8 years ago when Jessica and Alex both decided to hang out with friends in the lounge of their dorm at Fairfield University.  It was pretty early in their freshman year, and neither of them knew that they would find the love of their life that night. But that’s how fate works!

Jessica + Alex hit it off immediately, bonding over their very many common interests.  Alex’s family is from our lovely little Mystic, and Jess had spent time here growing up vacationing.  They both are avid golfers, and love all things coastal.  Because of their natural chemistry it was easy for Jessica to ask Alex if he wanted to go with her and her friends to the Presidential Ball and it was easy for Alex to say yes!

The first official date followed not too long after and while they may have had to take the university bus to the restaurant and Alex suggested ice cream and a walk on a freezing cold night, it was pefection*.

7 years went by and both Jessica and Alex had come to realize that the other was who they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with.  Of course there were significant moments.  Such as Alex driving to Jessica’s grandfather’s wake after only a couple of months of dating.  And Alex just simply couldn’t imagine his future without Jessica.  In fact, he no longer thought of it as “his” future, but instead “their” future, because Jessica was always in it.

Dinner and a Proposal (or two)

It was a day full of Jessica’s favorite things; puppies, a day spent in Mystic, and plans for dinner at Harbour House/ The Inn at Mystic.  But another one of Jess’ favorite things is to watch the sunset at Groton Long Point.  And conveniently Alex so casually mentioned they should watch the sunset together after dinner, and of course Jess agreed!

They arrived to one of their special spots, and after walking for a bit Alex got down on one knee and told her he needed to ask her something.  After dating for 7 years Jess had no idea where or when or maybe even if the proposal would happen, even though she knew when it did it would be a YES!  Jessica doesn’t remember much in that moment besides screaming “Are you serious?!”  Alex even arranged for a photographer to be there, but when he got close to the spot he got too nervous and just needed to do it, so they needed to reenact the proposal for the photos!

Afterwards Alex broke out the champagne and flowers and the two soaked in that newly engaged feeling with each other and calling their family.

October 20th at The Inn at Mystic

Leading up to this gorgeous fall day at the Inn at Mystic, Alex and Jessica had been very excited.  They were most excited to host their family and friends all together for one huge dinner and party.  But they were also excited to show everyone how much they love each other, sharing their personal vows and showing how much fun a wedding, and marriage, can be.

Well that they did.  Getting ready in the morning the excitement was strong.  Jess had her girls around her and Alex and his friends spent some time trying to figure out how to tie a bowtie.  Jessica gifted her friends with some gorgeous Sseko personalized clutches (an absolutely perfect bridesmaid gift!) and Alex gave his guys very classy KJP watches.

And then the emotions of the day came.  When Jess put on her gorgeous Pnina Tornai gown, the girls reactions were priceless.  Seeing their beautiful friend as a stunning bride was overwhelming and there were tears and smiles all around.  Alex looked awe struck when Jess turned that corner on the rolling hills of the Inn at Mystic.  Durning their vows Alex even let out a tear or two.  After all, he’s her lobster*.

Their ceremony was everything they wanted it to be, and the reception was no different.  The couple got to talk with everyone, dance the night away, and have the wedding of their dreams.  It was truly the beginning of their dreams, which involves the home full of family, the boating adventures, the traveling and the cookie binging movie nights in.  In other words having “done everything on Earth” ** together.

Thank you SO MUCH Mr. and Mrs. Vivenzio for including me in your incredible day, life and marriage.  It was such a great day and I am so happy to have shared it with you and your families!  I’m glad to have found another couple that truly enjoys the finer thins in life like I do- Italy and Friends. Haha- love you guys!!

*totally unapologetic Friends reference
