If the saying “rain on your wedding day means good luck” is true, then Charlotte + Patrick are going to be so lucky. Their moody September wedding at Regatta Place in Newport was met with a nonstop downpour, but honestly? It only made everything more magical. The misty skies, the glistening dock, the sound of raindrops during their vows—it all felt like something out of an old romantic film.
These two were total champs. Not once did they let the weather get them down. Charlotte was all smiles, looking stunning in her Made with Love gown, and Patrick looked so dapper in his classic Men’s Wearhouse suit. The whole day had this cozy, intimate energy that made it feel extra special—and as a wedding photographer based in Mystic, Connecticut, I LIVE for these kinds of emotional, real, beautiful moments.
The details
Regatta Place was the perfect backdrop for Charlotte + Patrick’s wedding day. With the boats bobbing in the harbor, it felt like a dream. Maggie Kane did such an amazing job coordinating the day—everything felt smooth, relaxed, and so full of love. Jen Marshall and Michelle McVay absolutely nailed the hair and makeup, even with the humidity doing its best to be a menace. Charlotte looked effortlessly elegant, with soft waves and glowy, natural makeup that held up all day (seriously, magic).
The party
Once it was time to party, Soul of Boston brought the energy big time. I don’t think I saw a single empty spot on the dance floor. Guests danced like nobody was watching (aka the BEST kind of dancing), and Charlotte + Patrick were right in the middle of it all—laughing, twirling, completely in their element.
The whole evening had this joyful, warm vibe that you really can’t fake. You could just feel how much these two love each other and how much their people love them right back.
Charlotte + Patrick, thank you for trusting me to capture your day. Even with all the rain, it was so full of light. Your wedding reminded me why I love what I do—documenting love that feels raw, emotional, and completely beautiful.
