There’s something about a mid-May wedding in Connecticut that just feels magical. The light stays soft a little longer, everything is green again, and the whole day carries this calm excitement that you can almost feel in the air. Lucia and Jonathan’s wedding at Kingdom of the Hawk was exactly that kind of day.
From the second I arrived, everything felt intentional but effortless. Their entire wedding had this timeless, artful energy that photographed so beautifully on both digital and film-inspired imagery. Every part of the day felt emotional in the quietest and most genuine way.
Lucia looked incredible in her sleek gown from Covet Bridal. The simplicity of her dress paired perfectly with the romantic veil and colorful florals from Sterling Flower Farm. It felt elegant without trying too hard. Honestly, the entire aesthetic of the day was a dream for anyone who loves modern weddings with a soft editorial feel.
The morning had such a relaxed energy to it. Sunlight poured through the venue while everyone got ready, and there was this quiet excitement all throughout the space. Those slower moments before the ceremony are always some of my favorites to document because they tell so much of the story.
One of my favorite parts of the day was their first look outside the venue. The sunlight pouring through the trees gave everything the dreamiest glow. Jonathan’s reaction when he saw Lucia said everything. You could immediately tell these two are deeply in love.
Those are the moments I’m always chasing as a wedding photographer. Nothing overly posed or forced. Just real emotion unfolding naturally in front of my camera.
The grounds at Kingdom of the Hawk gave us so many beautiful locations for portraits throughout the day. Between the stone walkways, soft spring greenery, and warm evening light, every corner felt cinematic. The black and white film-inspired portraits ended up being some of my favorites from the entire wedding. They felt nostalgic and modern at the same time.
Inside the reception space, everything glowed. The warm wood interior mixed with candlelight and soft lighting from Dawson Entertainment created such a cozy atmosphere for dinner and dancing. Guests were on the dance floor almost immediately once Clockwork started playing.
Every detail throughout the reception tied together so beautifully. From the florals to the rentals, the entire space felt elevated while still feeling welcoming and intimate.
Lucia and Jonathan planned a wedding that felt beautiful without losing the emotional heart of the day. Nothing overshadowed what mattered most. Being surrounded by the people they love most and fully soaking in every moment together.
These are the kinds of wedding days I love photographing most. Emotional, relaxed, intentional, and filled with moments that feel like art.
