The 2023 wedding season was one for the books, and M+J’s day at Cedarbrook Barn totally captured everything I love about being a wedding photographer in Mystic, Connecticut. It was romantic, emotional, and full of those quiet little moments that just hit you right in the feels. Honestly, this day was a dream.

Let’s talk about Mackenzie’s Rue De Seine gown for a second—like, are you kidding me?! She looked absolutely ethereal. And then she changed into the sparkliest reception dress that had the whole room cheering when she hit the dance floor. Obsessed.

One of my favorite parts of the day was their private vow reading. It was just the two of them, tucked away in a quiet corner, pouring their hearts out. You could feel the emotion between them—it was raw and real and such a reminder of why I love photographing weddings that feel like art. Their love just unfolded so naturally in front of my lens.

Their families brought all the feels too—so many sweet moments with teary parents, tight hugs, and happy cries. I live for that candid, in-the-moment emotion, and this day had plenty of it.

The venue, Cedarbrook Barn, was the perfect mix of modern and rustic, with just the right amount of moodiness. We had a little drizzle in the morning (classic New England), but it cleared up just in time for portraits, and the soft cloudy skies made everything feel extra romantic and cinematic.
