Latitude 41 Wedding | Lauren + Michael

December 2, 2017

Latitude 41 Wedding {12.02.17}

Lauren + Michael couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for their Latitude 41 wedding.  It was that “fall in New England” feeling day.  However it was December so they also got all of the pretty twinkly lights and sparkles that come with the season.  The sun was shining pretty bright on Lauren + Mike, warming them up from the first look until the super moon came out for them to kiss under later that night.  It was a pretty epic day.

Lauren + Mike met here in Connecticut, although they both attended Penn State.  Instead of meeting in college, fate wanted them to have a casual and comfortable first date.  That date ended with Mike making deer hunting noises that had Lauren cracking up.  While it went well, it really didn’t take a long time for them both to realize how much they each cared for each other.  For Lauren it was the moment at a friend’s wedding.  Mike caught the brides grandmother as she fell on the stairs, and carried her the rest of the way down.  Mike, who is a man of fewer words 😉 didn’t have one big moment, but he loved spending so much time with Lauren.  She was the nicest person he had met.

Lauren + Mike may have some differences; she can’t live without the ocean (I feel ya girl) and he can’t live without hunting. But their similarities far outweigh those differences.

They both call the help that they each received from their parents and grandparents when it came to buying their first home as their most favorite gift.  Also they both think of that date that they went on in a blizzard to a country concert as their favorite date.  They love exploring, being outdoors and traveling to new and fun places.

Fast forward a year and a half or so and Mike planned a kayak and sushi date for Lauren from Avery Point.  They made it to the little cove and while Lauren thought Mike was putting fishing gear together, he was actually down on one knee, and proposed.  The moment was perfectly them and Lauren of course said yes!

Lauren + Mike pretty quickly decided on a Latitude 41 wedding.

Latitude is a gorgeous place for a wedding: sitting on the water right in the center of the Mystic Seaport, decorated with a mix of antique ships and modern nautical nuances everywhere.  Choosing a December date can be tricky here in New England, but luck was of course on their side. They had a stunningly sunny day.  The getting ready took place at the Hilton Mystic, where Lauren’s mom adorned her with jewelry from her and Mike’s grandmothers.  She dressed in an absolutely made-for-her Allure Bridal gown and bolero.  A couple of miles down the road and they shared a beautiful first look where Mike’s expression said it all.  Lauren looked absolutely gorgeous, but his reaction was priceless.  Pure love and joy radiated from this man.

After some portraits of the couple, and their fun wedding party, we headed to the church.  A lot of happy tears were shed as Lauren walked down the aisle with her dad.  The couples friend Luke, of Luke + Mike Music played the guitar. Then the couple emerged from St. Mark’s Church to bubbles blown by friends and were off to party the night away at their Latitude 41 wedding.  The reception space was warm and glowy with candles everywhere and cranberry, evergreen and blush tones amplifying the beauty of the space.  Lauren + Mike had spent a year plus making their own maple syrup to give out as favors, and everyone loved them!

There were so many great moments from this day, Lauren + Michael!  I hope these photos bring you right back to it.  I had an awesome time getting to know you both, and your families. Thank you for having me, and I can’t wait to see all of your travels and everything the future holds!!
