So excited to finally share Jessica + Joshua’s beautiful wedding day in Branford, Connecticut! Their plans were totally upended by COVID-19, but these two stayed calm and focused on what truly mattered—their love for each other. I’m always inspired by couples who remind us that even in uncertainty, love wins.
Jessica shared their story with My Mystic Wedding, and it’s just so full of heart:
“Josh and I were set to get married on 6/19/2020, the anniversary of when we met. But three months before the date, COVID started wrecking all our pre-wedding plans. We knew June was out. We postponed to September, hoping for the best, but that wasn’t happening either. When we looked at 2021 dates, the only day all our vendors were available was July 16th—our official anniversary. We took it as a sign from God and decided to say ‘I do’ then, with just my immediate family and childhood friends, while Josh’s family joined on Zoom from California. 2020 taught us that true love can never be stopped!”
Isn’t that just the sweetest picture of embracing the unexpected? Despite everything, these two said “I do” surrounded by love and light. The ceremony was small but filled with BIG love and emotion. And the details—from the stunning Branford beach backdrop to the delicate flowers, gorgeous floral arch, and Jessica’s timeless dress—were simply perfect, no matter the last-minute changes.
A vintage film style wedding filled with emotion!
As a photographer who loves capturing emotional moments that feel like art, this day was pure magic. The soft natural light hitting the water, the candid laughter, and the quiet, meaningful glances between Jessica and Joshua gave every frame a vintage film feel. It’s that kind of imagery that tells a story without words, full of depth and soul.
Every detail was thoughtfully chosen to match the intimate vibe. The floral arch framed the couple perfectly against the serene beach. Jessica’s dress had that classic elegance that fits right into a vintage film aesthetic. And the bouquet added just the right pop of natural color.
Watching Jessica and Joshua navigate such a challenging year and still create this meaningful moment was honestly inspiring. Their story reminded me why I love being a wedding photographer in Mystic, Connecticut—the chance to capture real, raw love that stands strong, no matter what life throws at you.
Jessica + Joshua, thank you for letting me be part of your day. I can’t wait to do it all over again with your big celebration in July 2021!
