Kristen and Henri’s Groton, Connecticut wedding day was the perfect mix of simplicity and magic. From a heartfelt proposal to their intimate, vintage-style ceremony, every moment felt true to who they are as a couple. And let me tell you, the day they chose to say “I do” was nothing short of perfect.
A proposal full of heart…
Before we dive into their wedding day, let’s rewind to the proposal—because it’s too sweet not to share. Henri, being the romantic that he is, wanted their proposal to feel simple and meaningful. While Kristen was out, he transformed their apartment into a dreamy scene, filling the space with tea light candles and playing soft country music. When Kristen came home, she walked into a moment straight out of a fairytale, and Henri was waiting to get down on one knee. No fancy distractions, just pure love. It was so “them,” and I couldn’t help but think that their wedding day would be equally heartfelt.
A simple DIY wedding day…
When it came time for their wedding day, Kristen and Henri kept it just as simple, and just as beautiful. The ceremony took place on Kristen’s mom’s property in Groton, CT, and they kept things intimate with no bridal party—just their closest friends and family. It was exactly what they envisioned: a cozy, vintage-inspired day full of DIY touches and personal details.
Kristen wore the most beautiful vintage lace gown, one she had lovingly thrifted from Brides 2 Be Consignment Shop. It fit her like it was made just for her, with delicate details that perfectly complemented her timeless style. The couple went all out with the DIY touches. From the handmade floral arrangements by Thames River Greenery to the trellis they were married under, built by Henri and his dad, every detail was infused with love. Even the décor was thrifted—Kristen and Henri had created a celebration that was as much about their personalities as it was about their love.
Of course, no Groton wedding would be complete without a few unforgettable moments—and Kristen and Henri’s portraits were nothing short of magical. Just as we stepped outside for their couple photos, the sky opened up and a brilliant rainbow appeared, wrapping the couple in its colors and creating some seriously stunning shots. I’ll forever remember the look on their faces as they stood together, basking in the glow of this unexpected yet perfect moment.
