Some weddings feel like stepping into a dream, and Kirsten + Charlie’s August celebration at Gwyn Careg Inn was exactly that. Romantic, elegant, and full of joy, it had this Euro-inspired secret garden vibe that made the whole day feel like a Vogue editorial. As a Mystic-based wedding photographer, I live for days like this—where emotion and artistry meet in the most beautiful way.
Their love story 💞
Kirsten and Charlie first met while working together in the ER about three years ago. He kept wheeling his chair over just to chat, and soon enough, sparks flew. Their first “real” date was a beachside concert at Ocean Mist, ending with their first kiss under the stars. Kirsten told me she always felt safe with Charlie, never once questioning his love. Charlie knew she was the one during a trip to New Hampshire—when he slipped a ring on her finger at a local shop, he got chills and goosebumps, knowing in his heart it was meant to be.
When he proposed, it was straight out of a fairytale. On a trip to Banff, at the breathtaking Moraine Lake, Charlie dropped to one knee. A tour guide who happened to be snapping their photo quickly switched to video, capturing the whole magical moment.
The big day!
August gave them the most perfect summer day—warm, golden light filtering through the gardens of Gwyn Careg Inn. The historic stone walls, ivy, and lush greenery created a backdrop that felt straight out of Europe.
Kirsten looked stunning in her gown from Pearl Bridal Boutique, with hair and makeup by Epic Salon and Spa bringing her bridal vision to life. Her bouquet, designed by Jewett City Greenhouse, was romantic and lush, perfectly matching the timeless feel of the venue.
Guests were treated to a heartfelt ceremony, complete with live guitar music by Sawyer Auger, before moving into a night of laughter, dancing, and incredible food from Matthews Catering. The reception was filled with joy—sweet treats from Chocolate Rose Bakeshop, music by All Star Wedding Pros, and plenty of moments that had everyone smiling.
Excitement for the future 🥂
For Kirsten and Charlie, this day was about celebrating their love with the people closest to them. They both told me they’re most excited for the adventures ahead—traveling the world, building a family, and creating a life together full of laughter and love.
As a wedding photographer, these are the days that remind me why I do what I do. Their Gwyn Careg Inn wedding was more than just beautiful details—it was full of emotion, connection, and a kind of timeless magic that will stay with me forever.
