Matt and Meg and Ben and Jerry
Megan and Matt are two of the most genuine and kindest people I have ever met. Knowing them as a couple makes total sense, they literally emanate kindness and concern for everyone around them. We can all thank the dating app Bumble for bringing these two together. They talked for a few weeks before officially meeting up at Monkey Farm, a great dive bar in Old Saybrook. Matt said he remembered being pretty nervous and excited before their first date, but once he saw her walk in, all those nerves faded away! (of course- Meg’s smile makes everyone happy!!) They both fell in love pretty quickly, and although they hadn’t quite said “I love you” yet, they said they knew they were with “the one” before they had even been dating for 6 months. Matt said one day, after a bad day at work, he came home to find a pint of Ben & Jerry’s in the fridge with a note and he knew right then and there. This meant so much to Matt, the story even made it’s way into their wedding ceremony (along with a lot of mention of Marvin, their adorable puppy!!)
26.2 and a Diamond
After dating for about 3 years, Matt was ready to pop the question while they were in Chicago for a marathon Megan was running in. After the race, Megan’s friend convinced her to go clean up (now that’s a good friend!!) before meeting up at a bar later in the evening. On the walk over to the bar, while passing by the Chicago River, Matt got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said it didn’t even sink in what was happening until she looked up and saw so many people watching and clapping! She was totally blindsided, but of course, said YES!! Meg scored a medal and some metal that day!! (Sorry hahah I had to)
Finally…The wedding day!
After a pretty lengthy engagement, (thanks pandemic) their wedding day finally arrived! It was an absolutely gorgeous day spent with 150 of their closest friends and family. The Barns at Wesleyan Hills made for the most perfect venue for their rustic and romantic dream wedding. Megan looked gorgeous in her Anna Campbell gown, it had a beautiful one shoulder cape which was exactly right for the early summer day, but still allowed her to get out on the dance floor! Their wedding included some Jewish traditions, getting married under the most beautiful chuppah, stomping on the glass, the ketubah signing, and of course dancing the horah (one of my favorite things to photograph EVER!)
If I could only use a few words to describe Matt and Meg’s wedding, they would be… fun, fun, fun, pretty hot, fun, THE FOOD, beer, and some more fun. Seriously, when Megan told me she couldn’t wait for the food at the wedding, she wasn’t kidding- a poke station, hot pretzel bar, signature Marvin drinks, it was awesome!! and of course, Ben & Jerry’s was served as well!! They put a lot of thought into their details, and I especially loved their seating chart they had made with tables named after local breweries, the Marvin inspired koozies that were the guests favors, the growlers that served as vases for the floral centerpieces. It was like a boozy Pinterest board come to life! I’m so excited to share some of my favorite images from their gallery here on the blog. Talk about a picture-perfect couple!! So happy for you Meg + Matt! Here’s to growing old together!
