Fidanzati del liceo
Gabby + Jeff are a couple after my own heart! They share my love of Italy fully! Aside from their last names, LaBella and Salerno, they met in Italian class in high school, travelled to Italy and shared their most favorite date in Tuscany, and returned there on their honeymoon. It’s pretty safe to say Italy has almost been a third wheel in their relationship!
Yes, Gabby + Jeff met in high school, 12 years ago, so they are most definitely high school sweethearts, or fidanzati del liceo 😉 and it shows. Not only is the love and the level of comfort between the two of them evident, but it also is with their adoring families. Everyone was happy and overjoyed at this gorgeous Inn at Mystic wedding.
June 11
June 11th is a very special date for the couple- Jeff’s birthday. That was until he decided that he no longer wanted to be only about him, but about them. And on a very special birthday picnic, over a bottle of champagne, Jeff asked the question that Gabby had been waiting 11 years to hear. This funny, genuine, musically talented man asked this caring, absolutely beautiful woman to be his wife. She of course said yes, since she had always known he was “the one”.
Of course the proposal would have family involved in some way, and the ring that Jeff proposed with was originally Gabby’s grandmother’s. Gram snuck Jeff a ring while they were apple picking, such a beautiful way to tie their two families together forever. When Gram knows, she knows!!
Inn at Mystic Wedding
The beautiful proposal began the planning of this wedding for the couple. They chose the Inn at Mystic as the setting and it was absolutely perfect for them! Following a sentimental church ceremony at St. Mary’s in Groton, in which they were married by their high school priest, the couple made their way (with a stop in downtown Mystic of course!) to the steps of Haley Mansion at The Inn at Mystic. The historic mansion, with its towering columns were a great backdrop to host friends, and also a very large family!
Gabby + Jeff put a lot of thought and planning into every little detail of the day. My personal favorite was the dessert table full of cannolis, chocolate covered strawberries, and of course the gelato bar! But it always amazes me that no matter how gorgeous the dress is, how beautiful the flowers are, it’s always the moments that make a wedding what it is. When her father saw her coming down the stairs as a bride for the first time, her mom adjusting her veil, of course when Jeff saw her walk down that aisle, but also him sneaking glances at her during the ceremony. Just the sweet little nothings that happen with a couple that had already begun forever, forever ago. Oh and I mentioned Jeff was musically talented? You should have heard him on the drums at the reception! He killed “Play that funky music white boy” with Bock + Blu!
Gabby + Jeff you have begun a beautiful love story, and it’s going to continue to grow and transform into something even more beautiful. Full of coffee and cocktails, travels and family. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. We are truly blessed to know the LaBella’s!!
