A salty turned sweet first date

Nikki was a little over the whole dating thing, in fact she almost went to the first date in flats!!  But thanks to a little push from the future MOH, she put on heels and arrived (a little late, and a little salty) to a table in the corner of a restaurant with a wine tasting and a handsome man waiting for her.  Jeff was oddly nervous before she arrived, and her being late didn’t help… every minute that went by felt like 20.  It was worth the wait.  When Nikki arrived, talking on her phone and all, she took his breath away.

The date continued to only get better.  They laughed for 3+ hours, and felt immediately comfortable.  After the date Jeff walked her to her car, and checked in later that night to make sure she was home safe.  Total gentleman status!

It didn’t take long for the two of them to realize this was something special.  It was a little bit of a fast track to their Aldrich Mansion wedding.  The fact that there was no game playing- an invitation for Nikki to be his date to a wedding in Hawaii over a year away when they had just started dating- was a sure sign that this was the real deal.  Nikki also knew from how much her family loved him, and I can tell you first hand this family is one very tight knit circle!

(I REALLY hope you clicked on that and it worked.  We have a mutual love of FRIENDS btw)

As Jeff went out for a run on a Thanksgiving weekend morning to calm his nerves, Nikki got butterflies that their date later was sure to turn into a proposal.  When she strutted down the stairs looking like a supermodel (Jeff’s words) he knew she was on to him.  He played it cool and told her that she was dressed all wrong for a muddy, cold, tree chopping adventure.  She went into brat mode (her words) and stormed upstairs to throw on a 2 day old errand running outfit and some Hunter boots. Actually, still a cute proposal outfit in my opinion!

Still a little pouty at the tree farm, she was taking her tree holding responsibility very seriously.  Face deep in pine needles, she didn’t hear Jeff calling her name.  The third time she finally looked down, and Jeff’s perfectly rehearsed speech was out the window, but he got the most important words out: “Will you marry me??”

Mascara stained cheeks and all, she said “But you told me to change!!” and then, of course, YES!!  Jeff continued the surprise with a party at a restaurant with their friends and family. They both agree that it was the best day!  Well maybe until their…

Aldrich Mansion Wedding

Nicole + Jeff decided on an Aldrich Mansion wedding and it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for them.  There is a chapel right on the property and it also overlooks the water.  There was plenty of room for their super fun large group of family and friends to feel relaxed and welcome.  The couple’s style is classy, but still fun and trendy.  I mean just check out Nikki’s custom cape from Modern Trousseau and also custom denim jacket from The Denim Blonde!!

The girls all arrived fresh from their time with the ladies of Simply Gorgeous by Erin, looking SO beautiful, and having SO much fun.  The emotions were high pretty much right away, and tears were flowing when Nikki put on her gorgeous gown.  They continued during the first look Nikki had with her father, and as he played Have I Told You Lately on the piano, a newly acquired talent.

Nikki + Jeff opted not to do a first look and Jeff’s reaction was exactly what I think we were all expecting.  Tears, biting his lip, looking so in awe of his bride as she walked down the aisle.  They had a very personal and heartfelt ceremony, but were definitely ready to party afterwards!  We popped some champagne and let the glitter and confetti bombs fly.

The toasts were a definite highlight of the evening (as was the couple’s grand entrance LOL- torn pants and all!!).  I’ve never seen a crowd laugh and cry all at the same time for so long!!  It was time to have some serious fun after that.  Chris Saraiva did a perfect job of making sure that happened.  Everyone was dancing non stop, even Nikki’s 97 year old grandma was out on the dance floor!!

Nicole and Jeffrey, I am so completely honored that you chose me to document your wedding day. You said it best that night Nikki- “I think we’re really friends now!!”

xoxo- Ames
