I truly cannot imagine a more beautiful way to kick off my 2026 wedding season than Alexis and Jarett’s wedding weekend in Newport, Rhode Island. From the second I arrived, the entire day felt effortless, emotional, stylish, and so full of life. Every little detail reflected them perfectly. It was the kind of wedding day that reminded me exactly why I love being a Mystic-based wedding photographer capturing emotion-filled images that feel like art.
And honestly, Newport showed off for this one.
The day started at the historic Colony House with one of the most intimate and meaningful ceremonies. The architecture alone was stunning. Add in soft spring light, chic fashion-forward details, and the sweetest energy from their friends and family, and it was already magic before cocktail hour even began.
Then everyone made their way to Stoneacre Garden for the reception, which felt like stepping into the coolest garden dinner party imaginable. Trendy but timeless. Elegant without trying too hard. The florals by Sweet Talk Florals completely transformed the space with the dreamiest textures and colors. Every corner felt intentional and warm.
One of my favorite parts of the entire day was getting to capture pieces of it on Super 8 film (see a peek of it here). There is just something about the nostalgic movement and imperfect beauty of film that matched Alexis and Jarett’s wedding so well. Their day felt emotional in that quiet cinematic kind of way. The kind you never want to forget.
And after hearing more about their story, it made perfect sense.
These two met at Stella 34 inside Macy’s in Herald Square in New York City. Their first date happened during the middle of winter in January 2021, right in the height of the pandemic. They planned to visit an art installation in Midtown Manhattan, only to arrive and realize the entire thing was broken. Honestly, it feels weirdly fitting for them. Even when the plans fell apart, they still had an incredible time just talking together.
Jarett said he loved Alexis immediately, but truly knew she was the one when she moved from New York City to Newport to start this next chapter together.
And their proposal story was easily one of my favorites. Completely spontaneous. Slightly chaotic. Very real. Jarett got a last minute call that Alexis’s ring was finally ready just before her college friends were coming into town. He quickly planned a spontaneous scooter ride to the beach with a bottle of white burgundy in tow. Except they forgot cups. Then drove all the way back home to get them. Meanwhile Alexis kept asking about the mysterious bag holding the ring. Eventually they ended up sitting next to beachside garbage cans while struggling to open the wine bottle before Jarett finally said, “let’s do this now,” and proposed. Honestly, perfect.
What made this Newport wedding feel so special was how centered it was around connection. Alexis and Jarett were most excited to celebrate the life they built together in Newport with all of their favorite people in one place. You could feel that throughout the entire day. Every toast, every hug, every packed dance floor moment felt full of genuine love.
As a Newport, Rhode Island wedding photographer, weddings like this are the kind I dream about documenting. Emotional moments. Stylish details. Film-inspired imagery. A couple completely present with each other. It all came together in the most beautiful way.
Alexis and Jarett, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of your story. What a way to begin 2026.
