“Sto lat, sto lat, Niech żyje, żyje nam. Sto lat, sto lat, Niech żyje, żyje nam, Jeszcze raz, jeszcze raz, Niech żyje, żyje nam, Niech żyje nam!”
Allow me (or google) to explain.
Julie + Roger brought about 170 people from all over to celebrate with them at their Mystic Museum of Art Wedding. This was a destination wedding for the couple since they live in Chicago, but it is so easy to see why they have made the closest of friends from wherever they have lived or visited. It’s also so easy to see why those friends were so excited to be there to celebrate with them and their adorable puppy Belle when they officially became a family!
The theme of family, as well as friends was strongly woven into the day as well. Julie’s gorgeous engagement ring contains a diamond from her grandmother’s ring, her brother wore their grandfathers cufflinks. The centerpieces were slate cut by the her late grandfather, meaningful since the family was in the slate business for years and her grandfather worked with it until he was 90 years old. Aside from beaming, proud parents, of course Belle, and a very special “grandmother” Alice, Julie + Roger also have been adopted into a large, FUN, Polish family, who by the way really know how to party. The words above were sung loud and clear after the ceremony to congratulate the newlyweds and tell them that they are wished 100 years of longevity + good fortune- over and over!
Chicago meets a Mystic Museum of Art Wedding
Like I mentioned Julie + Roger currently live in Chicago, and wanted to bring a taste of their city to Mystic. They did this by the food that Ivy’s Simply Homemade served, the Chicago style hot dogs in particular I believe were a hit! By the incredibly jazzy, soulful, (aptly named) Shaded Soul Band, and by Roger’s best friend Griffin who married the couple. He spoke a lot about the city being a big part of the couple’s life, and also wanted to remind them that flying Sprit Airlines to Chicago was no easy task (which I think we can all agree on) but he’s done it a number of times, not for the city but because Julie + Roger are that special.
Happily ever after…
I loved everything about Julie + Roger’s beautiful riverside wedding. From Belle’s “I do too” leash to the couple’s laid back and funny personalities, with the personal touches on everything, and their obvious and genuine love for each other. They managed to make a wedding that was a whole Spirit Airlines flight away feel just like home. I’m excited to follow along with you all and this exciting journey you are on!! Enjoy some of my favorite photos from the day 🙂
