As a wedding photographer in Mystic, Connecticut who specializes in capturing emotional wedding imagery that feels like timeless art in a vintage film style, every couple’s story deeply inspires me. Ali + Colby’s wedding day was no exception. These two kind souls tied the knot in the most heartfelt setting — her dad’s backyard in Westerly, Rhode Island, just weeks after her brother’s wedding there. It was an intimate, beautifully authentic celebration that I feel honored to have documented.
Getting ready at the cozy margin street inn…
The day began with both the girls and guys getting ready at the warm, inviting Margin Street Inn. Ali was an absolute vision in her gorgeous ball gown from Alexandra’s Boutique — a real-life princess moment made even more special as her mom and bridesmaids helped her into the dress. One of my favorite captures from the day is a stunning black and white photo of her bridesmaids’ priceless reactions — pure, unfiltered joy.
Ali chose to have not one, but two heartfelt first looks: one with her dad and one with Colby. Both moments overflowed with smiles, hugs, and tears — the kind of genuine emotion that makes wedding photography so meaningful.
Floral magic + bridal party glam…
The bridal party looked incredible. Ali’s bridesmaids wore neutral-toned gowns from Show Me Your Mumu, while the groomsmen rocked bright blue suits from Jos. A Bank — a lively, fun contrast that popped beautifully in the vintage film-inspired photos. The florals by Danielson Flowers added the perfect touch of elegance and softness to every portrait, highlighting the joy of standing next to your closest friends on one of the biggest days of your life.
The big moments: ceremony + reception!
Ali’s brother, Paul, officiated the ceremony, which was a truly heartfelt reflection of their love story. Of course, their adorable French bulldog, Stella, was part of the celebration too — adding warmth and personality to the day. Their candid smiles during the vows, their first kiss as husband and wife, and the walk back down the aisle were some of the most beautiful moments I had the privilege to capture — moments that embody the emotional wedding photography I strive for.
Guests were treated to a cozy cocktail hour and reception filled with delicious local treats — apple cider, donuts, caramel corn — alongside a wonderful meal by Blue Rocks Catering. After Ali and Colby’s intimate first dance, the party was in full swing, and everyone danced the night away, creating joyful, candid moments that felt like timeless art through my lens.
It was truly an honor to document Ali + Colby’s wedding day. Their genuine love and the kindness of everyone present made for a celebration that was both emotional and beautifully timeless. As a wedding photographer in Mystic, Connecticut, capturing days like this in a vintage film style is what drives my passion. Thank you, Ali + Colby, for trusting me to tell your story. I can’t wait to see your marriage and family grow!
