A Coastal Watch Hill Engagement Session Full of Love + Laughter

Okay, friends—get ready to fall in love with Alexa + Chris because their Watch Hill engagement session was straight out of a romance movie. These two are the definition of “meant to be,” and their story honestly gives me chills.

They grew up three minutes apart—yep, you read that right—and have been in each other’s lives since they were little kids. Their siblings were best friends, so Alexa and Chris were always around each other, sharing summers, laughs, and memories. Alexa told me that while they didn’t officially start dating until college, she always knew it was him. I mean… come on. If that’s not a real-life love story, I don’t know what is.

They’ve been together for over eight years now, and this August, they’re finally getting married at the beautiful Newport Beach House. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding day—it’s going to be pure magic.

When I asked Alexa about their proposal, I totally melted. Chris planned a cozy fall day at a winery, complete with a private balcony overlooking an apple orchard and the Hartford skyline. On the table sat a white pumpkin that read “C + A” with the date. As soon as Alexa saw it, she started crying. Chris got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, and shortly after, their families showed up to celebrate. He rented the entire top floor for the moment. A literal autumn dream.

We headed to the beach in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, one of my all-time favorite spots for golden hour. The light, the colors, the salty breeze—chef’s kiss. Their session was filled with so much laughter, sweet forehead kisses, and those quiet moments that make my heart skip a beat. Alexa’s outfits were perfect, and you could just feel their love radiating through every frame.

As a Connecticut wedding photographer who focuses on emotional imagery with that vintage film look, sessions like these are my absolute favorite. The genuine connection between Alexa and Chris made photographing them feel effortless. Every image told a story, and together, we created something that feels timeless.

I’m counting down the days until their wedding this summer. It’s been a long time coming, and I already know it’s going to be full of love, laughter, and happy tears.
